Jane Furst has been an artist for over 50 years and a teacher in Art schools for 34 years. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1970.  Her main practice is drawing painting and printmaking and on occasions sculptured constructions. She draws inspiration from artist such as Ernst Haeckel (artist/biologist) and Northern Renaissance and Flemish artists such as Hieronymus Bosch and Jan Gossaert.

Jane Furst is interested in using portraits and organic images to reveal metaphor and anthropomorphic resonances and to interweave her love of some early masters into contemporary prints. In printmaking Jane has explored mezzotint and dry point monotype techniques.
