Landscape format watercolour and Japan size, image of a winged seed which is in the process of fragmenting. The seed part at the base of the wing is revealed to show its internal construction. From this rises the frond of the single wing which is beginning to break up. The image is a monochrome fine line detailed depiction set against a yellow ochre glazed background as if trapped like an insect in amber.

This image is one of four of this subject; winged pods of the above species from South America.  I am revealing the beauty of these forms which vary and are beautiful even in the process of fragmenting as in this case which is now as if it were trapped in a moment in time.
