Landscape format of the front and back cover of a catalogue of the works of Jane Furst for an Arts Council England funded exhibition of her work in three venues in Rochester Kent. On the left hand side which is the back cover we see a grey square in the middle of which is a monochrome image of a Renaissance woman with various shapes floating about her. These are mostly taken from Ernst Haeckel's studies of marine creatures. Below this rectangular composition is the title in red; By this Hand.  On the right hand side we see a monochrome drawing in detail of part of a tomb effigy of a husband and wife holding hands. This drawing is taken from a stone sculpture. The grey from the background of the back cover flows under this drawing upon which in white italics is the title; Jane Furst.

From the artist

This publication which was produced by Furst & King and therefore has an ISBN number and is in the British Library, accompanied my three simultaneous exhibitions across three venues in September 2017 ; Sun Pier House, Chatham House and INTRA ARTS, Rochester, Kent, UK.  In this Arts Council funded retrospective exhibition I cover works from my early years at art school, textile design, drawing, painting and more recent work which is printmaking. Because the works cover a variety of fields I used the title, By This Hand, to reflect the fact that it is all one person's work.
