Roundel Tempera Painting on wood 14 inches wide. It shows the profile portrait of a man with close cropped hair and stubble looking to the right. We see his head and part of his shoulders. Behind his head is a branch of a blossom tree. The background is gold leafed in green gold as opposed to warm gold.

From the Artist
As I was the lead artist for this project which was a depiction of Leonardo's Last Supper to go on the Table for the Nation, I had first choice of which disciple to paint. I felt Judas would not be chosen by anyone so decided to tackle this. Also of all the figures in Leonardo's painting Judas is the least successful. I found however, the study for Judas by Leonardo Da Vinci which is what I used as a starting point. I have tried to show three different expressions in the face; surprise, resignation and then grit determination.
