1993
Jane Furst
Portrait format water colour and mixed media painting showing a winged pod which has autumnal amber hues. there is detail in the veining on the wings and the two basal seeds. to the left of the composition several stems arise from the bottom border one of which is attached to the winged pod between the two seeds. In this painting the wings are stretch almost horizontally. The background is dark in tone suggesting a stormy sky.
From the Artist
In this painting one can almost see a setting sun over hills on a winters evening.
In parts the wings have frayed edges and some holes reminding us that nature also takes a battering from the weather. When I choose a specimen to paint it is because frequently apart from the interesting textures and shapes I am also reminded of something other than the object.
