Landscape format painting in the genre of Oil pastel, depicting two reclining figures, each wear a crown, they are king and queen.

At the top of the composition the queen is reading and the king is in the foreground holding a sceptre.

The whole image is bathed in the spectrum hues of blue and purple using dramatic chiaroscuro tonality.

Bringing to life, the idea of being together, yet being separate. She reads a book and he is actually asleep. Both are in separate realms.

From the Artist:

All of the works shown in the paintings section of my website, were done in the 1980's, they are not contempary works. They all employ mixed media, drawing and painting techniques.

In the 80's this is how I worked, characteristic of how I used drawing and painting mediums in the painterly expressive manner.

I don't consciously use art to exercise my own emotional life, but during this period I suffered a lot of loss.
