Over a period of ten years from 1990 to 2000 I exhibited my paintings of seed pods in nine solo exhibitions. I produced over one hundred paintings and sold many. The majority were watercolour on paper but several towards the end were large oils on canvas.
I worked from the many specimens I found in different locations and countries. I was inspired by these amazing structurea with complex chambers and dispersal systems for distributing seeds.
Above all I often observed 'personality', in an anthropomorphic sense, in the forms and came to regard my paintings as icons which I often embellished with gold leaf decorative borders or frames.
