View all Seed Pods

Landscape format watercolour mixed media painting of a winged pod which has two wings of uneven size. The one on the left is perfect in form whereas the wing on the right is underdeveloped. They are still both beautiful with red veining against a whitish blade. The two seeds at the base are mysteriously dark and merge into the background.. The image of this pod standing upright from its stem anchored in the base of the frame is lit up against a cloudy night sky.

From the Artist
This pod although deformed is beautiful and reminds me of angel's wings in an early Renaissance painting. So one could almost say the wing on the right is in a perspective situation and suggesting movement.

Its imperfection has led to another idea.
